Member Benefits: Disability Insurance

Our endorsed disability and life insurer, The Standard, reports that the average disability for educators lasts 111 days, but many educators are not eligible for state disability insurance nor have sufficient sick leave to cover this period. Need disability insurance?  Check out CTA’s excellent voluntary program.

If you have another disability program (not endorsed by CTA), consider talking to The Standard about their special port-over opportunity during the months of October and November.

New Benefits Exclusively for CTA Members

CTA is always looking for ways to enhance their member benefits. CTA understands the emotional and financial burden members may experience due to outstanding student loans or being out of work on a disability claim due to a Cancer diagnosis. That’s why CTA created and is providing the Student Loan Benefit and Cancer Benefit for CTA members. These benefits will be available at no additional cost to Members enrolled in the CTA-endorsed Voluntary Disability Insurance plans from Standard Insurance Company (The Standard). MORE

That’s why more and more educators are showing up on the ballot in local elections. Want to meet some of them? Here’s an advanced peek of the California Educator where we hear from our educators/candidates, follow local chapters that are mobilized for a victory in November and take a closer look at the two candidates for Superintendent of Public Instruction.
