Health Care Rates Estimates for 2017

Dear VTA Members,

Attached are the estimates for 2016-17 health benefits out of pocket costs. The two different rates for Sacramento or Bay Area are set by CalPERS and are based on the county in which you live. Sacramento includes El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento and Yolo counties. Bay Area includes Alameda, Amador, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, Nevada, San Francisco, San Joaquin, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano, Sonoma, Sutter, and Yuba counties.

Please note that these are only estimates based on past patterns of plan selections by our members and our projections with new hires included. Actual out of pocket rates will be calculated after Open Enrollment and will be available in mid December.

Open Enrollment starts September 12th and ends October 7th. Changes made during Open Enrollment take effect January 1, 2017. During Open Enrollment, you can contact the HR office to:

  • -Change your CalPERS health plan
  • -Add eligible dependents
  • -Remove dependents
  • -Cancel your existing CalPERS health coverage

-Enroll in a CalPERS health plan if you don’t currently have CalPERS health coverage

*Blue Shield NetValue will not be offered after December 31, 2016.

If an employee enrolled in NetValue would like to be enrolled in Blue Shield Access, no action is required.

For more information on plans visit the CalPERS website:
