Siblings, we had a great week with the Ironworkers #378 kicking off our field program for the June Primaries. Attached is our Napa/Solano Central Labor Council calendar as well as our candidate calendar which is meant to keep everyone aware of what they have going on. Take a look and see how you can help push our candidates over the line this June.
REMEMBER, The District 5 Solano Supervisor race will be decided this June, let’s do everything we can to help Skip Thomson! Let’s get those butts’ in the seats, boots on the streets and ballots in the box for our candidates!
Good Jobs Fair Wage Campaign: We have been meeting and putting together an educational program. Right now the focus is on the election where we hope to keep our good labor supporters in office and help some new warriors get a seat at the table. Every candidate interviewed were made aware of our desire to see our first union hotel in Napa and Solano Counties and all expressed a desire to support the effort. So we continue to educate the members, business and public to help make that happen.
Dodd Kickoff: Great showing at Bill Dodd’s kick-off in Vallejo. Our friend Tim Hiemstra at Napa River Realty opened up his spacious offices and supplied the great BBQ that the Sibs at Firefighters Local #1186 cooked up for the event. The fact that it took place in the heart of Vallejo’s Farmers Market added to the party atmosphere. Dave Harrison’s OE-3 Sibs took the early shift and then Danny Bernardini from the Building Trades got the word out for Bill Dodd. We also had the Painters Sibs show up to walk and they did a great job!
Syar: Please consider attending the Napa County Board of Supervisors meeting to show support for the Syar Expansion.
Napa/Solano Central Labor Council Delegates meeting: At our April meeting we finalized the following endorsements:
Measure AA: SF Bay Clean Water, pollution prevention and habitat restoration program. Nine county parcel tax.
Solano Transportation Tax (Two Parts)
Measure G: Advisory measure to create oversite.
Measure H: Solano County 2016 transaction and use tax. Half cent sales tax
Measure J: Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District Bond proposal
