Did you see last night’s confirmation hearing? Betsy DeVos was unable and unwilling to answer even the most basic questions about education policy, was noncommittal on her family’s record of political donations, declined to say if guns belong in schools but used an example of schools who may need a gun to “protect from potential grizzlies,” confused a federal law protecting students with disabilities, refused to agree that all schools receiving federal funds should be held to the same accountability standards. If confirmed, she would be the first secretary of education with ZERO experience with public schools. You can watch the hearing here.
